I have been involved in the IT field since 1982. Back then it was all green screens and menus at best. I learned RPGII and COBOL on an IBM System 36. Having been involved with computers for such a long time I find my depth of knowledge much more satisfying than what young students are taught in college classrooms today. I am amazed at how many people can not execute the simplest DOS command. I once mentioned a ping command to a younger support person and they replied that they had heard of ping golf clubs. No lie! I am very annoyed with all the "script kiddies" out there in the wild today with their paltry viruses. The Internet is in trouble. It is very possible that it may soon disappear as we know it today. Businesses can not afford the costly down time from viruses nor can they tolerate 85% of all email traffic being Spam. This great thing will soon become another piece of history if some control isn't achieved very soon.
